The June meeting was was one of our most informative and fascinating to date! Jeff Jacobus explained how Atmos clocks operate, discussed some of their idiosyncrasies, and displayed some of the distinctive parts such as the bellows. Based on his decade of experience in buying, selling, and repairing Atmos clocks, he also talked about their value and how that varies.
June's watch display of 16-size Hampden watches was a huge success. Ed Ueberall, co-author of the Railroders' Corner, sent down a number of watches for the display which, along with several brought by Louis Christina, provided a number of seldom seen examples of Hampden grades and models. There were quite a few that many of our members had never seen before. The watch display cabinet was over-flowing to the point that some watches had to be displayed on the table. Its a credit to our chapter that nobody was uncomfortable about doing this. Since the Hampden watches seemed to be so popular, it was decided that the August topic will be 18-size Hampden watches. All members are encouraged to bring examples for display.
